Erwan was born to a Pict father and Gael mother. Though he lived most of his life the Pictish style, his mother being a foreigner (Picts regards maternal lineage for matters of succession) never entitled him to be part of the warrior caste. He's found a role for himself as traveler and entertainer. The news he brings back home, the legends he tells from distant provinces brought him some popularity. He's also acting like an unofficial agent for his king : mostly spying or transmitting messages. He follows a yearly cycle in his endeavors : traveling by boat when the weather permits, hiking or riding when winter strikes and getting back home for the harvest rites. His family is looking for horses of strong build to fortify their stables and he tries to help with that too. Erwan is quite fluent in Latin but he refuses categorically to perform any of his art in this language.
